[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. [ she watches quietly for a minute before observing, ] They're very strange.

[She glances over to her, surprised, before shaking her head.]

No, not at all. This is way over-exaggerated. You're sheltered, there's a difference.

Okay. [ she seems satisfied. ] I don't want to be an alien. I like the shape of my head.

Plus you have very pretty hair. It would be a shame to lose it.

[Because Coneheads are definitely lacking in the blond department.]

But you do have some things in common with them, though. They're learning the world just like you are.

That's true, my hair is lovely... This gives context to the hockey movie I watched the other day.

Which hockey movie was that?

[She doesn't watch a lot of sports movies.]

Miracle. It's a 2004 American sports docudrama about the United States men's hockey team, led by head coach Herb Brooks, that won the gold medal in the 1980 Winter Olympics. The USA team's victory over the heavily favored Soviet team in the medal round was dubbed the Miracle on Ice.

Right! That hockey movie. All I really remember from it was the goalie. He had the prettiest blue eyes under all that eighties hair.

He really did. [ good old eddie cahill. ] I didn't really get the politics, but I learned hockey.

Hockey is a good thing to learn. Personally, I'm more of a baseball girl, but still a good movie.

Baseball is so long. And boring. I like their pants though.

[She laughs.]

Baseball is much better in a stadium. Or at least that's been my experience.

Do they play baseball in England? [ enjoy googling that, bae. ]

Yes. Sort of. They tend to prefer cricket.

[She thinks. She hasn't really tried. The Mets are all that matter.]

It's like baseball, sort of, but with a bigger bat.

[ squints. ] That looks dumb.

I couldn't agree more.

[She shrugs.]

But along with imperialism, it's the national past time around here.

[ she barks out a laugh because ofc she's going to get the joke about imperialism. ]

[Of course she does. Malina is glad she appreciates it.]
