[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. This is a bit of an out there question, but did you feel ... anything, when you first saw him again? I mean, confusion when he recognized you is understandable, but sometimes the Veil doesn't erase things as completely as we think it does. Episodic memory, yes, but you still retain things like muscle memory and semantic memory and there's history of people with amnesia looking at items or pictures and feeling something but not understanding why.

Those instincts might be able to help you figure out what to do here.

At... first, no. But there was so much surprise over what he was saying, that I couldn't really sort of my reactions. But the more I talk to him, it's -- it's like everything he says sets me off.

Is it the content of what he says or does he just have that kind of personality? Is there something about him that automatically puts you on the defensive - aside from him knowing more than you about your relationship.

That would do it, but ... try and see if there's anything deeper than that. Is it a surface reaction or is there something more instinctive to it?

I'm not sure we've spent enough time together for me to tell the difference.

I'm not sure. I don't know what's worse - being afraid of what I'll find out, or letting a past I can't even remember affect me.

It's natural to be afraid of the unknown. It's not something we can fight or beat, it's always going to be out there. The only way you can really stop that fear is to get the answers you're worried about.

I think him holding this information over your head - intentionally or not - is giving him power over you, and the fact that he's in a position to do it makes you uncomfortable. Getting the information is the only thing that's going to take that control away.

It's just a matter of what seems like the less daunting prospect - asking Sark or asking your father.

If you are interested I really think we should revisit these issues with your father at a later date.

[Because really, when you trust the information of someone you don't really trust and probably a bad guy over your own father indicates some pretty deep-seated daddy issues, but that's not what they're here about now.]

But, I will say that you should still take everything he says carefully. You know yourself. Trust your instincts - if you think that something he says about you is off then take it with a grain of salt and consider the source.
