[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. [Just ... this. It was bad but it was still hilarious, ok. Where did they find this guy and are there more like him? New fave tbh.] Looks like it. Guess they were short on an avian-inspired population here. [Or something like that??]

No, definitely not just you. I was squired in with the last group of people. How recently did you get here? [Apparently very, since he hadn't been in the group of people squired that she was in.]

[He spreads his arms in a dramatic gesture, accompanied by an equally dramatic voice.] Today is my very first day here in the wonderful land of Britannia!

...Haven't even found my room yet, actually. [He glances down at his duffel bag, the only baggage he brought with him. The quiver is there too but that ain't luggage.]

Spreading your wings, nice. [She says with a nod. That's her clever response to his spreading his arms. No, the bird jokes aren't dying.]

[She follows his glance down to his stuff.] You pack light. [She notices the quiver, too. (spot 19, because lol of course she gets a high spot check when she doesn't really need a super high one.)]

And I apparently have a knack for collecting archer friends. [Oliver ... Nyssa.]

[Oh man, does he perk up at that.]

Archers? Really? Here I thought everyone was about guns and lasers nowadays. Just how many archers do you-we have around here anyway? [He's still getting used to the whole "I'm part of this place now" concept.]

Not everyone; I'm about my baton. Guns I can use too, a bow if I really have to. [Almost every time she's used a bow, she's handed it back as quickly as she could. Heh.]

I haven't taken a headcount of archers though, but probably a lot. I'm told my friend Oliver Queen is around here somewhere, but I have yet to see him -- he's one. I was also thinking of my ex-ish girlfriend Nyssa when I said that, but I'm pretty sure she's not here at all. [Thea hadn't mentioned her, anyway.]

[Hawkeye is already thinking of Oliver as a diva drag queen, because that's clearly what his name means. Also, "Probably a lot" is much more than he expected to hear, so he's quite glad to hear that!] Really? That's impressive, I honestly expected to be the only one here with a quiver. I guess the question is, are they any good?

[He miiiiiight be a little full of himself when it comes to archery, but hey, it's well earned, ok?]

Why, do you come from a place where everyone else has high tech shit and you're the one who's a million years behind? [The why being in question to his lack of expectation on much diversity of weapons.]

I wasn't too surprised here. They're not that uncommon to me, especially with my time in the previous organization I was with since a lot of people there also trained with a bow and arrow. And my weapon of choice isn't exactly traditional, so I think I just take diversity with weapons for granted.

[Another pause, then: ]

As for Oliver and Nyssa ... they're both the kind of people who could toss something like a tennis ball high in the air, and have it nailed to the wall with an arrow well before it hit the ground.

[Does that answer his question?]

If you meet Oliver here, I'm sure he wouldn't say no to a friendly challenge in the firing range. [Sara can absolutely see him being all for that, unless he's changed a lot here.]

That sounds like exactly the kind of thing I was looking for, actually. I honestly can't remember if I knew many archers back home, but I'd love the chance to meet someone else who knows how to hold a bow. [By the way, he caught that she knows archery.]

But you make it sound like you can't hit the broad side of a bus. How's your aim? [He gives a half-smirk to indicate that he means no harm by the comment.]

Get ready to be in good company, then.

[Nah, she doesn't even take offense to the comment tbh.] Aim, well, if I had to hit the broad side of a bus, I could manage it. [If she had to.] I'm just better at smacking the hell out of things with a stick. If my comfort and skill level with a baton is a ten out of ten, mine with a bow is probably six or seven out of ten. Unless we're talking removing the string from the bow, forgoing the arrow, and using what's left of the bow like I would a baton, then it'd be ten out of ten. [Sara no that doesn't count.]

[His eyes glaze over with righteous fury at even the slight mention of someone mistreating a bow. He's able to restrain himself from doing anything rash (will save 18 + 4mod = 22), but does huff his frustration.] No, no, I don't think that's how it works.

[Eager to change the subject, he decides to ask about how these two Birb Themed People got their names.] So, how'd you get labelled as a Canary? Were you the first one sent into the mines or something? [Bad try at re-directional humor is still bad.]

Maybe not. [She concedes with a small laugh. ]

Close, kind of. My dad bought me a canary when I was around ten years old. Where I was before, that organization had people pick new names for themselves, so I picked what translates to 'Canary' in Arabic since they operated in Arabic there. There wasn't much humanity there, so I think I picked it so it would remind me of some humanity. A childhood pet given to me by my dad was what I associated humanity with. Or, at least trying to remind me of humanity was my idea, anyway, even if it didn't really work. [It hadn't taken her long there to start thinking of herself as irredeemable. She was made through training to be an assassin; she wasn't born one.]

[He does a small drumroll with his knees for a few seconds, then exclaims:] I don't remember! [Jazz hands are deployed at this time.] But seriously, I honestly can't remember much at all about my life back home, just that I was part of a save-the-world outfit called either the Avengers, or Shield. Not sure which. But anyway, my codename was Hawkeye, which sounds pretty badass if you ask me. [He shrugs. Sure, amnesia is a bitch and a bit traumatic, but he's had worse. At least, he thinks he has...if only he could remember, dammit.]

[She smiles quickly.] Yeah, it does sound that way. Saving the world sounds like a pretty nice gig, though. And busy.

[A pause, then she just figures, why not say it (b/c somebody crit failed a will save here) ] I was with a place called the League of Assassins. Not much avenging or shield-ing there.

[Clint's eyebrow manages to achieve new heights when he hears that comment.] Oh really? That doesn't exactly sound like the neighborhood association. I don't have anything to worry about now, do I?

No, it really wasn't. They found me after I'd been 'saved' from a shipwreck, so they 'saved' me from that second bad situation. At least they brought me back to health. Physically, anyway. And that's where I met Nyssa, so...

[That might have been the only good thing to come from it.]

You're definitely safe. 'International assassin' is a job title I'm happy to leave in my past.

[He glances back to the tab of lolcats that started all this.]So you're more of a "Feline Image Connoisseur" now, eh? How well does that pay? [He smirks like someone who knows that they're being a lil shit.]

The pay is shit. No benefits to speak of, either. But at least it's full of hilarity.

Sounds like my kind of job then! I'll have to pass on it today, though. I've got a lot of catching up to do if I want to know what the hell's going on around here. [He opens the original tab, which has an article of one of the various creatures that inhabit this strange new world.] Like this. What the hell is that even?

[He sighs heavily.] Ok, I swear, there was an important article here just minutes ago. I...I think I'm done for today. Haven't even found my room yet, that's probably something I should make happen before it gets too late.

[As he begins shutting down the computer, he flashes her another smile.] Thanks for the chat. I'm glad we didn't ruffle any feathers.

Yeaaaah you should probably do that. [a beat: ] Nope, all smooth feathers here.
