[ as they finish their drinks, thea orders a couple more, different flavors so barry doesn't get bored. thea cut her teeth on her mom's booze cabinet and light watered down beer at house parties, she isn't discerning, but she doesn't want to make barry drink that shit. ]

Anyway, I checked out the British Museum, it's pretty cool. I felt cultured.

[Barry is all for some variety, and he will try the new flavor with an "Mmmm!" and keeps drinking without a care for the alcohol content. I'm sure that won't come back to bite him later.]

[And he's going to fumble for his phone to totally look that up. And not get very far because he ... probably gets distracted by Candy Crush (computer use 2).]

[ so quick, so slow. w/e thea finds it endearing (all her friends are idiots!) and lets him play until she realizes her drink is going faster than his, at which point she gently covers the screen with her hand. ]

Yo! This is a pub crawl, Allen. Emphasis on the pub.

[And he will snatch up his drink and start sipping away, ready to order himself another one as soon as that one is done.]

So what about you? I feel like I don't know anything about you which is weird because I hang out a lot with a lot of people you know. At least, I did before the Veil because it's not like Diggle or Laurel are over here. At least, not that I know of.

[A beat.]

Maybe that's where Oliver ran off to. He's looking for Diggle. Those two are like really close.

[ gently places her hand over barry's mouth. ]

Stop talking about my brother. I'm still mad and I want to pretend he doesn't exist right now. [ that said, ] What do you want to know about me?

Like ... back home what did you do? You said you weren't in college so were you working for your parents company?

No, Walter was in charge of Queen Consolidated before it turned into Palmer Tech. [ her nose wrinkles. ] That was never my thing. I run Verdant, it's a nightclub. I had to buy it back from Ray because it was one of Consolidated's assets.

[supertardiness]

Oh really? That's awesome.

[And he means that genuinely.]

I don't really hang out at a lot of the night clubs in Central City, but I think I've run past Verdant a few times.

[Including one time ... right in front of Thea.]

It's great. Tommy ran it before me. When I got here, I landed in Bruges and basically took over a club there. [ never underestimate thea's stubborn tenacity. ]

[supertardiness]

[He grins a bit at that, because he likes stubborn tenacity. It reminds him of someone he can't quite remember.]

So why'd you change jobs?

Um, there was a shady drug ring running through the club and the knights sort of... rescued me from being tied up in the basement.

[supertardiness]

[He considers for a moment before nodding with a soft laugh.]

That seems like a good reason for a job change.

[His head tips to the side as he considers for a moment.]

So why did you decide to stay?

I couldn't go back and, well, Wynn sold me on putting what my dad taught me to good use. After a while... it just felt like home, the good parts. My parents never instilled in us to do the right thing, but Detective Lance and Laurel were all about helping where you can and I guess I needed that.

[supertardiness]

[He nods in agreement.]

Yeah, I've always needed that too. I mean, working with the police was me trying to prove my dad's innocence, but becoming the Flash ... it was more than that, you know? Like I had this gift and people who would help me do good with it. I could save people I couldn't save before.

[Like his mom, even if that didn't work out.]

[ thea wants to ask if he has a no killing policy but that seems rude. but then... she asks anyway. ]

On the scale of what you do to bad guys, are you more like Batman or Spider-man?

[supertardiness]

[That is an excellent question. He pauses for a moment before making a face as he tries to figure it out.]

If they're human, than I usually just drop them off with the cops. [he absently grins.] One time, in the middle of the high speed chase, I cuffed the bad guys and dropped them in the back of the patrol cars without even needing to stop.

[Barry that is not a good idea and incredibly unsafe.]

Metahumans are another story though. There wasn't any real prison for them that could hold them, so we built containment cells for them at STAR Labs that neutralized their abilities.

[ but he doesn't kill them, that's what thea wanted to know, nodding slowly even as she cracks a smile at his story. ]

Neutralized how? Like you guys figured out how to shut them off?

[supertardiness]

More like contain them? Like ... their abilities are a part of them. The particle accelerator fundamentally changed their body chemistry. But the pipeline also got changed too and ...

[SCIENCE! SO MUCH SCIENCE. ALL OF THE SCIENCE.

And they're going to keep moving and keep drinking while Barry sciences.]

[ almost none of that makes sense to thea, tbqh, so she pays for their drinks and gently steers him out of this pub and to one a couple bars down as he's still trying to explain science things to her. she doesn't interrupt, just herds him like an excited puppy, pausing as they enter the second bar to casually note: ]

Look, festive holiday themed karaoke. Let's get some more drinks.

[And he's been distracted enough that he doesn't even remember previous objection to karaoke (wisdom 2). He's just distracted by all the new, but is all for more drinks.]
