[ Whether she wants to admit it or not, Killian's words leave an impression on Emma, sticking with her as she goes about her business in the castle. Keeping a weathered eye out for Jordan and Faye's routine at least helps keep her preoccupied from her own, and Neal's unwelcome presence in it.

Unconsciously, she tracks them, and she's in the castle bar with a half-finished glass of whiskey when she spots Faye follow Jordan into the library across the hall. Her smile fades, and she excuses herself from her company to head over, leaving her glass half-finished and slipping over to the library.

They settle in at a table, and she approaches, hands tucked into her back pockets. ]

Hey. Either of you two seen Belle around?

[It's mostly for appearances, really. Faye hangs out with Jordan in public every now and then so that there's less reason for people to get suspicious of their arrangement. The library is... boring on a good day, but she tolerates it. Mostly that means playing on her phone while he does research and writes.

She glances up at the sight of Emma and there's a tension that tightens her spine. Faye had hoped that their last conversation would be enough to keep the woman far enough away to avoid seeing through the lie she was living.]

Not recently. [Not since Faye decided Belle had caused Gold to leave and purposefully stayed as far from the librarian as possible to avoid the burning desire to make her pay for what she had done.

Ahem. Sorry. Channeling her inner Regina there for a second.]

[Oh crap. Ohcrapohcrapohcrapohcrap. This was worse than Killian cornering him. Way, waaay worse.]

O-oh hey Emma! Um... N-nope, haven't seen her around for a while actually. Uh... something wrong? [So, remember when Jordan was the worst at keeping his cool when flustered? Oh, you mean right now? Yeah, this is what a 13 Willsave looks like.]

I was just hoping she could help me with something.

[ Emma leans forward, resting her palms on the back of Jordan's chair as she watches Faye's expression. Masking her scrutiny under a picture of casual ease, she shrugs one shoulder, measuring the tension she feels mount in Jordan as she speaks. ]

I've been thinking a lot, about Amara. Whatever happened to her was triggered by her staff. When David picked it up, she locked on him. It made me start wondering if maybe there's more than just a spell that could bind two people together magically. [ Her gaze flickers between Faye and Jordan. Looking at Faye again, she smiles. ] Or separate them. You haven't heard about anything like that, have you?

[his body stiffens as Emma leans over his shoulder, the tension in his back ratcheting up another notch as she speaks.


His eyes lock on Faye's face, a barrage of emotions clouding his features. There is a battle going on behind his eyes, a desperation to have Faye found out so he could once again have his freedom, and his determination to help her conquer her fears so she won't feel the need to make a wish in the first place.

He can't make himself say anything to the question, shaking his head instead though he knows there are in fact many ways two people could be bound together with more than just a spell (omfg bluff 9 jfc he really is the worst at this)]

[Calm down, Jordan. Jesus. He's the actual worst at this. Nevermind that it's his own self preservation that makes him terrible at it, but god it's not helping her at all right now.]

I'm sure there are lots of artifacts that can bind two people together. [She sure knows about one. Since it's in her possession, whoops.]

Lila might know more? I know the Amara thing is high on her list of priorities.

[None of that is a lie but just to roll a bluff check for her acting normal and not trip Emma's kill bill sirens?? ...Well, that's a nat 20. Again. Apparently Faye is perfecting the art of lying to her mother, 36 total. Who knows if Jordan being the worst will make that not matter at all.]

[ With a sense motive of 49, one shy of a nat 20, Emma gives Faye a second look, something sitting ill with her about it all, but she brushes it off as—well, her feelings. Getting the better of her. Wanting to believe something of Faye that simply isn't true. Hook got in her head, obviously.

Except Faye's nat 20 does not work as an aid another to help Jordan overcome the 40 point difference between Emma's sense motive and his bluff. She glances down to watch him tense, none of it really easing out as Faye speaks.

There's something else going on here. Whatever it is, Faye apparently doesn't give a flying fuck, and left her moral compass in the coat closet or something, but Emma certainly does. ]

Yeah, you're probably right. I think she's with Amara now, actually. [ She slips down into the chair beside Jordan, leaning her elbows on the study table and turning her gaze to his face. Wow. Don't fucking play poker, dude. ] You're magical, right? Do you know anything like that? [ Aggressively tries to implicate double meaning with her eyes. ARE YOU UNDER THE EFFECTS OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT CHECK YES OR NO. ]
