[Kate can't help but be lured by the siren smell of cookies. She's heading back to her room, ready to shower after her work out in the gym, when she's distracted by that fresh baked cookie smell that no one can resist. So she pokes her head in quietly, glancing around as she does.]

That smells really good.

Thanks. [ she grins, looking up from another bowl of batter she's mixing/eating as she bobs around to the radio playing in the background. ] Fresh out of the oven if you want some.

[ using the batter covered spatula to point to the piles of cookies on the cooling racks makes some fall onto the floor, but amy just shifts a rag she already has on the floor to clean it up without having to bend.

(there's also a few trays of burnt cookies near the trash from while she was still getting a hang of the oven, but she's going to ignore those.) ]

[How can someone say no to that? She surveys them for a moment, trying to choose which one is the best in a completely subjective manner before picking up one of the cookies to take a bite.]

[And then there's a "mmmmm" of approval as she downs the cookie, before extending her free hand.]

I'm Kate.

[ she wipes her hand on her apron before she reaches over to shake, but kate probably still gets some flour residue by accident. ]

Amy Pond. You're American? [ SHE'S CONFUSED ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF AMERICANS HERE. ]

[She nods in agreement, brushing off the flour residue without really a second thought about it.]

Yeah. I was from New York before I fell through the Veil.

[It's one of the few facts she actually knows about her life before all of this.]

Oh, I've never been.

[ cries for thirty seven years about rory. ]

Always wanted to, it's on the list. Maybe one day.

[She nods in agreement.]

We do have some downtime. Maybe after you finish your next mission you should take a vacation?

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. [ drag the doctor off for an nyc adventure. they could go to times square! see the statue of liberty! and fao shwartz before it closes! ] Do you have to put in for time off or...?

I ... don't know. I've never actually taken a vacation. But I figure you can let Wynn known and he'll call you in if he needs you?

Yeah... how long have you been here, then?

A little over a year. Not as long as others in the order, but long enough.

[ she whistles. ] Long enough is right.

[She gives a small shrug, before tipping her head to the side.]

Don't think you'll be here that long?

Not without a vacation in there. [ she flashes kate a grin. tbh she's not sure she'll stay? she has the wanderlust, but she loves everything the knighthood stands for, she's just itching to do something. ]

[She laughs at that, before nodding.]

Fair enough. Guess I'm just a workaholic.

Well, you know what they say: all work and no play make... I dinnae, serial killers and weird blokes. That got away from me.

[She laughs.]

And I definitely wouldn't want to fall into either of those categories.

Definitely not a bloke. [ SHE'D GIVE YOU A DRIVER'S LICENSE, KATE BECKETT. ]

[She laughs.]

Nope, definitely not. And I don't fall on the serial killer end of the spectrum either.

That makes one of us. [ but she barks out a laugh, so it's obvious that she's joking. ]

[She laughs in return, before nodding in agreement.]

I'd like to think we don't spend a lot of our downtime surrounded by serial killers.

What'd'ya reckon, though? This many people... some of 'em gotta be bonkers. [ still casually baking. ]

[Kate gives a small shrug.]

It might be true. But if it is, they had to go through Wynn, right? Which means they're probably good guys.

We'll see. [ she snaps the oven off. ] Wanna watch a movie and hope kitchen fairies clean up my mess? [ the tray of cooled cookies is held out again temptingly. ]

[Kate smirks for a moment, before nodding. Yeah, she can do that.]

Let me grab a shower first and I'll meet you in the TV room.
