[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. Years. Sorry. [HE HAD TO SWALLOW OKAY.] Want some? [he gestures down at the remainder of the pizza. everything imaginable is on it. even mac and cheese????]

[hacker]

Sure.

[ She slides up onto a bar stool to join him and pulls a slice, ropy strands of cheese tying it back to the pizza until she cut them deliberately. ]

I'll give you guys this much: you really know how to fill the downtime. Is this mac and cheese?

[buttholy]

Uh, yeah. [said as if why would a pizza not have mac and cheese???] I'm guessing you're a newbie.

[hacker]

That obvious? [ She took a bite of the pizza, swallowing her reluctant acceptance of the title. ] Skye works too, you know.

[buttholy]

Well, Skye, I'm Dante. How do you like it around so far?

[hacker]

Reserving judgment. Seems a little trigger-happy so far, to be honest, but I'm hoping I'm wrong. There's good people here, who seem to believe the Knighthood's worth doing, but ... [ The interview process has been sketchy. ]

[buttholy]

Everyone's here for their own reasons. [he shrugs; he's used to working with the gung-ho psycho people at this point in his life. (unsure)] I'm in the good people camp. At least, I'd like to believe I am. I love the idea of it, you know? That there are still people going around, trying to do what's right. Change the world.

[hacker]

See, that's what I'm talking about. If people are becoming Knights, shouldn't they be doing it to make a difference? To help people. Not to hurt them. I just— [ She sighs. ] I don't know how I feel about all the secrecy. If we're really doing the right thing here, why do we have to do it from the shadows?

[buttholy]

Why do superheroes have secret identities? I think ... maybe some of it is, well, a lot of the people here have shady pasts, right? Or they're Shadowkind. People find out they're getting rescued by ex-cons and elves or something, and they start being all judgy and racist instead of appreciative.

[hacker]

Or so Batman can not get arrested for dangling people off buildings, or so Superman doesn't have to pay for all the property damage he causes.

[buttholy]

I think those are also factors that apply here.

[hacker]

Yeah, well, avoiding accountability isn't heroic. To me, that just looks like saving your own ass.

[buttholy]

You want Superman to pay property damage?

[hacker]

I want to know that if he goes off the rails, somebody's gonna have a way to reel him in.

[buttholy]

It's not like — here, when you go on missions, your leader has to report how everything went to Wynn. And if you do something that's out of line, Wynn intervenes. It's not total anarchy.

[hacker]

And if Wynn makes a bad call? Who intervenes then?

[buttholy]

One of the sect leaders? Or the Claws? But ... haven't you talked to him? He really considers everything. I don't think he'd make a bad call.

[hacker]

[ Skye stares for a minute like ok are you serious. ]

... Uh-huh. Yeah. Yep, I've met him. I don't think anyone can actually get squired here without ... meeting him.

[buttholy]

Oh ... yeah, point.

[hacker]

I make a lot of those.

[ Totally modest nod. ]

So what's your specialty? Other than [ She gestures toward his plate ] mac and cheese pizza.

[buttholy]

[he cracks a smile.] Well ... weapons, mostly. Swordfighting. That sort of thing.

[hacker]

No way. [ She lights up. ] Like, with real swords? Can you show me?

[buttholy]

Sure! [he seems equally enthused.] What, now?

[hacker]

Duh. Yes, now!
