[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. [ Seems legit. ]

So you've heard of us. [ She grins. ] They taught me everything I know. Helped a whole team of knights get in and out of a Mexican government base.

So what made you jump ship to join up with us?

Well, the Mexican government stole my van and laptop when they tried to disappear me for seeing the spaceship they hid, and the Rising Tide wasn't gonna help me get back on my feet ... [ She tilts her head to the side, considering. ] And I saw an opportunity. Kali gave me the chance to stop spreading the word about the bad things people were doing, and start stopping them.

Kali... [He hasn't worked with her but he's seen her around.] Blonde, yeah? Sort of...always happy and bouncing around?

That's the one. You know her?

Not super well, but I've seen her around. [There's a lot of knights out there, okay!]

She seems... excitable?

Is that a bad thing?

Well... [He draws the word out and shrugs.] Just not really my style.

[Unless it has to do with computer parts of new video games and then he turns into a giddy mess.]

And just what is your style?

This. [He gestures to the lab.] Quiet. Focused. Not saying her way is bad. Just different.

Is that pretty common in the Hoard? Most people I've met so far aren't very ... reserved.

Maybe. I mean- I don't want to speak for everyone. People think we're a bunch of nerds and I guess that makes us less... chatty or whatever. [He bristles a little. It's a sore spot for him.]

You say that like it's a wrong impression. Are you not a bunch of nerds?

Not all of us. [He says sort of grumbly, even though he totally considers himself a nerd. He just hates being called one before people even know him.]

There's all types. Bookish. Tech. Weapon mods. I mean it's not just any one thing.

Isn't that just different types of nerds?

Well, I mean... [He huffs a small laugh.] Shut up. Yeah, I guess it is. I just hate people who think we only do one thing. Doesn't matter what that thing even is. But if you see the lab in our wing it's like... I mean, we're fucking busy.

No kidding. Honestly, broad as the definition is, I'm surprised there aren't Hoard members. You guys have to be pulling, like, all the weight, right?

Basically. [Finally! Someone who gets it.]

But the Hide tends to get most of the credit. All hack and slash and whatnot.

Mmm. I'm sensing some inter-sect rivalry going on here.

[He gives a little shrug.]

Maybe. [More like sibling rivalry. And mostly on Andrew's end. Go go gadget self esteem issues.] It's just frustrating, you know?

What, not getting credit? And here I figured people would find that fun.

How is that in any way fun?

It was — [ She deflates a bit at having to explain, scratching the side of her head. ] ... A ... joke. You know, forget it.

Oh. [He looks instantly sheepish.] No, sorry. I'm just-- It's sort of something I'm not used to many people... getting.
