[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

Wynn is a pretty forgiving guy. Sometimes it's easy to question his judgement, but he's about as good as they come.

[aka, some of the people he recruits are even more questionable than her, but it still seems to work out.]

Thanks. I've been trying to get settled in, get a feel for the place. Everyone's been helpful so far. [ Her nod comes with some enthusiasm. ] They, uh, they poached me out of the Rising Tide when we crossed paths on a mission. Does that kind of thing happen a lot? I mean, do you pull people out of other groups? CIA or something? Malina said she used to be a con artist ...

It wouldn't surprise me if it happens every once in awhile. Wynn needs all kinds of specialties, and at the very least has contacts in all kinds of departments.

I think it's more of a change in career as opposed to poaching. Some probably even pull double duty.

[After all, they have a knight who is also a king now.]

I'd hate to see the mission-related time-off requests. Felicity said people can't tell anyone about their work here if they're not on the inside.

Pretty sure they don't come to the Castle that often.

[As in they're probably said contacts in those departments, and are sending reports back to Wynn.]

The Knights wouldn't be very good at knowing what's going on out there if we just all stayed in one place. But honestly, that's just a guess. I dropped straight into my mission through the Veil and haven't been on another one since. I've spent more time doing that then actually here.

[Other than that...time she spent on the run. Shhh.]

One mission? I thought you said you've been here like three years. That's — Wait. That thing with NOVA? You're on that too?

That's the one. That's where the Veil dropped me, right smack dab in the lobby of the NOVA building.

It's a miracle you got out of there unbrainwashed, from what I hear.

Two of the people who recruited me were in the lobby when it happened. I'm pretty sure that's the only reason something like that didn't happen, considering the Veil also took like all the memories.

[A beat.]

Along with the whole matter of what I turned out to be.

[hacker]

[ ???? on her face. Skye shook her head. ]

What did you turn out to be?

You didn't catch that part of the story, huh?

[She smirks, and then the bones under her skin stir and her entire body seems to morph effortlessly, before her eyes (disguise 48).]



[Hi Skye.]

I'm a changeling.

[hacker]

[ A slightly uncomfortable look starts on Skye's face during the shift because oh GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING TO HER FACE but then it becomes ... herself.

And Skye takes a step back, eyes wide, blinks through it, and a smile booms. ]

Oh my god! That's amazing! I've never met a real changeling before. I mean, there's spells for this kind of thing, but not like — [ She walks around Elena, reaches out to touch her hair. ] Is this — I mean, does it hurt? How'd you learn to do it?

[She had a good feeling about you, Skye. So many points won in this moment.]

It hurts like a bitch, especially at first. After awhile though, the pain sort of becomes like...an old friend.

[There's the slightest of hesitations before she answers.]

I learned from a doppelganger. He's the first one who could tell what I was. Kyp. You said you knew a little about me, so you might recognize the name.

[hacker]

[ knowledge local 18. yep. she's there. ]

They're saying you let him go. He was a prisoner downstairs, and you set him free. Was that why? Because he's like you?

[She shifts back to herself at that question. It feels weird talking about somewhat personal shit wearing someone else's skin.]

He was convinced they were going to kill him and he owed me.

[For helping them kidnap Myri and Spike. For...other things. It was complicated.]

We went to Andres Isle together, to try and save a friend of mine.

[hacker]

Sorry. [ She holds up her hands. ] I'm prying. You don't have to— I meant what I said. It's your business. I swear, I'm not judging.

It's fine.

[She shrugs.]

The fact that I said anything at all means I believe that.

[The not judging part.]

You seem pretty alright, so I'd rather you hear it from me first. I don't get that chance too often.

[hacker]

I'm sorry. [ A genuine look of sympathy wells in Skye's expression as she looks at Elena now. ] It should be your story to tell. Not anyone else's. [ She gestures to her. ] So? Did you save him?

[She shakes her head.]

Everything started out fine but...the whole thing ended up being a mess. [A beat.] When I came home, it was empty-handed.

[On numerous counts.]

[hacker]

Castle full of people who still have your back doesn't sound entirely empty-handed to me. [ Welcome to the bright side of life with Skye. ] Judgy or not, they're on your team. At least you had a place to come back to.

I'm sure there's at least handful of them that would gladly let me take a hit, honestly.
But yeah, if I didn't want to be here, I wouldn't have come back. It helps that I have tougher skin now.

They'd be doing the knighthood a favor, right? Let something else get me before I betray everyone again?

[She shrugs.]

I've only ever been on missions with the same people. They wouldn't do that, so for now it's a non-issue.

[hacker]

Pretty sure stabbing you in the back for any reason would just count as them betraying anyone. So, you know, if I see anyone with a knife ready, I'll be sure to go all TSA on them and master my running tackle.

[That actually breaks her apparently sour mood on the whole thing and she just straight up laughs.]
