[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. [He cants his head at Rafael.] So you bumming here for awhile, Fluffy?

Why, is it gonna increase the chances of you sticking around longer? I see where your loyalties lie, Desmond.

Perhaps I figured now was my chance, while Burt is somewhat distracted.

And here I thought nothing could distract Burt from his iron grip on your soul.

[Des glances at Buffy and winks.] I'm just curious. He might still be here when we get shipped out again. Conveniently.

Some of us invite our significant others along as team players.

Not everyone's significant other is prepared for the types of battles we fight. [ to des ] No offense meant, of course.

[Des glances down at the counter, smirking sadly.] None taken. We've talked about it, and it's just not his thing.

[slay]

[ This faux-offended face says TRAITOR!! at Rafael. But it settles into something quietly understanding at Des' remark, as if she expected that. There's mortality causing you to freak out and try to protect your loved ones by squirreling them away, and then there's being away from them for literal months at a time by choice. She has a feeling the conversation had at least happened, and if Zarad really wanted to be around, Des wouldn't be able to stop him. ]

How's he doing, anyway?

He's still smarmy. [He reaches over to steal some of their ingredients like a heifer.] But good. Tickled as hell we're not constantly in different countries anymore. I think it's helped both of us.

[romanticidal]

I know it cannot have been easy, spending so much time apart. [ sneaks a glance at buffy oh my god they're gross, stop. ]

[slay]

[ Buffy's smile starts out as happy-for-Des gooey, but she seems to veritably feel Rafael's gaze on her, because her expression softens, then green eyes flick over to lock on his. The smile she gives him is more private, and she tips her head in unspoken acknowledgement of, yeah, they know the feeling. She slips her hand over to cover his as she redirects her gaze to Des. ]

I'm glad. And you're keeping him updated on everything?

[Meanwhile, Des is smiling like someone whose OTP finally got together and they're probably gonna reblog a hundred gifsets of just this moment when they log onto tumblr again just to cope.]

The modern music world ain't really his thing, so that helps a lot, but yeah. He knows... about all this. [and all the sadness and pain that often comes with it.] Sends his love and concern, too.

[ he squeezes buffy's hand, before catching that look on des' face and looking a little chagrined. ] I'm glad he is staying safe then. For your sake.

[ Let's just be clear that Buffy likes Zarad personally and not just as Des' action figure accessory!!! ]

Well, we're pretty good fighters, all of us, so I'd like to think that'll be a long time.

I'm cautiously optimistic. [Des wanders over to the fridge, producing a bottle of some sort of juice.] Now unless you're keeping a bottle of wine in your coat pocket, Fluffy, I'm gonna have to improvise, but this is one of those moments.. [he futzes around in the cabinets and then pours three glasses half full of the juice, handing two off to Rafael and Buffy.] Call me cheesy. I'm happy for you two, and that's worth a lame coffee cup-and-grape-juice toast any day. [He lifts his mug.] To the last three years, good and the bad. Here's hoping there's more good than bad in the future, right?

To coming out of this in one piece. [ optimistic toasts are us. he'll grab a glass, wink at buffy and raise it up ]

[ Buffy adds with a grin, glancing between them as she raises her juice cup. ]

May we have earned some good over the past couple years.
