[ with the nonchalance of someone who can get very, very drunk, thea completely brushes aside barry's woes like it's nothing. ]

[ she will use her queen ingenuity for the purposes of drinking. it's the same ingenuity that got her a fake id when she was fourteen. she's had plenty of practice. ]

[He doubts that her Queen ingenuity will find away around his super metabolism but he's willing to at least try. If anything, he can play babysitter and make sure she doesn't make herself sick.]

Good. [ 'cause she is really fucking intent on being drunk and she wants a companion, dragging him into one of the pubs on the row at random. this looks like a nice place, it doesn't look infested by the british version of frat boys. ] I don't take no for an answer.

[Barry follows with a soft sigh, because Caitlin didn't take no for an answer either.]

[ now that's an idea. thea laughs, however, elbowing her way to the bar with pretty good success (str 17) and snagging two seats, sliding on one just before someone else tries to take it and giving them a smug, victorious smile. u snooze, u lose. ]

I don't think this bar does karaoke, so you're safe. [ for now. ]

[Barry will quickly slip onto the other one (quick is his thing) before giving a small shrug.]

It's not that I have anything against it, it's just ... way less fun sober.

Everything is less fun sober. [ which is why she's going to lean over and use her feminine wiles to order two fruity drinks because the point of this adventure is to get drunk and forget about her brother, sipping on craft beers or single glasses of wine just will not do. ]

[Yay fruity drinks. Barry will totally take his and perch on the stool as he sips it, before pulling back with wide eyes.]

Wow, you can't even taste the alcohol in that.

[ thea grins, starting to feel relaxed for the first time since barry showed up and turned her life inside out. ]

That's kinda the point, you know.

[Barry didn't mean to do that, for the record. He's just talks to much and lets the wrong secrets spill ninety percent of the time, and keeps the ones he should tell.]

Well ... yeah, but when I used to be able to drink, I always made sure I could taste it. That way, when I stopped, I'd know it was time to switch to water.

[Or, you know, pass out somewhere because he was a nerd and a lightweight.]

Water is for wimps who can't hold their booze. [ it's funny bc thea's half a foot shorter than him, but she's been drinking since she was twelve so she's pretty much a pro now. ]

[He smirks as he takes another sip.]

Yeah, well, I was a physics and chem nerd who liked to avoid hangovers, especially when my professors were kind enough to schedule eight AM exams on a Saturday.

[Science kids have it so hard.]

Reasons I am neither a nerd nor a college student. [ i mean, she's a huge fucking nerd, just about pop culture. she clinks her glass against his though, before taking her own, much heartier, sip. ]

It's definitely not the life for everyone.

[He says like he's talking about some kind of exclusive secret society, because he's that kind of nerd too.]

Not everyone can keep up with our fast paced world of chemical reactions and hardcore math.

[ laughing: ] Oh my god, stop, I'm going to puke and I'm still sober.

[He grins in response before taking another sip of his drink and leaning back against the bar.]

So do you come here a lot? London, I mean.

Yeah, once or twice a week. I always feel cooped up at the castle. I love the city, I'm not sure I'm built for country living.

[Barry nods in agreement.]

I've never been to Europe. Depending on how busy we are once I'm officially ... employed again, I was thinking of maybe running around and seeing what I can see.

[His mom always talked about traveling. She wouldn't have wanted him to deny himself the opportunity.]

You can stroll, you know. Casually walk. Art museums are much better at a turtle's pace, for the record.

[His eyes blink for a moment, before he shakes his head.]

Oh, no. I'll stroll once I get there. But it's faster for me to run there than take a train or drive.

You never really understood the concept of "it's the journey that matters, not the destination", did you?

[He ducks his head a bit before shrugging.]

The journey's important, don't get me wrong. It's nothing against the scenic route. If it's just me though, the scenic route just seems to ... drag itself out a little too much.

[Speedstering makes him impatient as a default. Things need to go faster and trains do not go fast enough.]

Remind me never to go on a road trip with you. [ she laughs, fishing a cherry out of her drink to pop it in her mouth. ]

[He laughs a little bit at that before shrugging.]

It's different if I'm traveling with someone else. Then there's ... a distraction. There's someone I'm sharing it with.

What if you run to Paris and I'll meet you at the Louvre when my flight lands? [ ah compromise. ] Then you'll have worked out all that excess energy before slowly looking at the art.
