Yeah? I guess swimming is more about strength than speed. You know, pushing yourself through the water.

Mmm. [ something like that, she's sure. she's not actually insanely knowledgeable, she's just doing what her dad did with her. UNSURE INTENSIFIES. they trained on an island, there was water nearby.

putting her watch out of reach, she slips into the water, ducking under to slick her hair back and out of her face. ]

Now it's time for the old lady water aerobics. [ SURPRISE! ]

[ laughing lightly, she swims around in front of him before kicking away from him and backwards. ]

You're just gonna walk. The water is a natural resistance, so it'll be harder to push against but still shouldn't be too hard on your lungs.

Well... all right. [he starts walking and tries not to be a grumpy cat.] You know a lot about this stuff.

My dad lived on an island. He was kind of a hardass about training.

[ I MEAN THAT'S ONE WAY TO PUT IT? ]

Why? I mean, was he thinking you were gonna be in the Olympics or something?

Not... exactly.

[squints while he tries to solve the mystery while walking through the water] Were you into sports?

I was into archery. [ still the past tense. she's working on that one still. ]

[ambitionist]

I did hockey.

[ oliver probably did some hitty sport, but thea doesn't remember/care. ]

Where'd all that conditioning go? [ but she smiles a tiny bit so it's not meant as insulting as she was being earlier. baby steps. ]

[he doesn't seem to take it that way and hence doesn't react like a megadick, so a+ progress for both of them] I haven't played in 14 years.

I haven't been in an archery competition in... about as many. So we're even.

[ambitionist]

But you still keep up with ... all this shit. [IT'S WORKING OUT AND IT'S HEALTHY ALEXANDER.] I mean, I spend a lot of time at the firing range, I guess that's not much different.

They're mostly unrelated anyway. My dad got me into archery I think and... [ er. ] my dad trained me in the other stuff.

Huh. [what if he didn't actually care that much tho.]

[ she's not going to elaborate without prompting so this is great for her, frankly. explaining her fucked up family takes alcohol. and maybe drugs, we just don't know. ]

Anyway, I have a lot of training.
