No, no, I don't think she's that specific. Just family. Maybe a grandfather.

[ there is the most fleeting smile because gus isn't calling him old, per se, it's just funny to him because lan is definitely his father figure, his father as much as his real dad was. he's also perceptive and self-aware enough to know that cora clings to him (as much as cora clings) the same way he clung to lan when he arrived.

lan's the grandfather, gus is the father, cora is the baby. it's a family. an emotionally stunted and inept, occasionally lupine, obnoxiously loyal family of fuckwits and surliness. ]

Sometimes I wonder if I have any. Grandchildren, that is. Or great-grandchildren. They've moved on with the length of their natural lifespans while I've remained as I am.

I don't even remember their names, you know. Everything else, but not their names.

[ veil stuff makes him super uncomfortable, but he tries not to let on to that fact. ]

I don't think you need to. Names are just... names. It's how they felt to you that's important.

That is something I will never allow myself to lose.

[ he nods, but then stands up. ]

I'm going to move Daisy to the garage and give her some food. Make yourself at home. [ a beat. ] As much as you can.

[ he just nods, letting the conversation drop for now. and looking around the place skeptically 8| ]

[ la de da, he sets daisy up in one of his parking spots, giving her some oats and hay and covering her with flannel blanket. he is a druid, he just has this shit at the ready. he probably has a nice chat with her as he's setting her up. just druid things.

when he makes it back up to the apartment, he closes the door behind him and precedes to giving lan the world's quickest tour. ] Kitchen, bathroom, guest room, living room, that's pretty much it.

[ tada. ]

Where do you train? [ HE DOESN'T SEE A SPARRING ROOM jk he knows gus never trains when he's at the castle either, that might have been a jab in disguise ]

[ he only just refrains from making a 'cardio in the bedroom' retort because he's not a dick and lan's like his dad. he does snort though like lan pls. ]

I run in the park. There's a pull up bar and some weights in the closet. [ that's the extent of his exercise. it sounds a lot like he's saying SO THERE because he's a fucking child. ]

Running. [ he says with the same disdain some people have for jogging. or yoga. ]

[ AGGRESSIVELY ROLLS HIS EYES. ] Running. What do you think I should be doing?

Training the rest of those muscles. Keeping your reflexes sharp. Those habits of yours only serve to dull them.

It also keeps me in touch with nature. [ lan is half right, but it's not like he smokes specifically to get high, he smokes because it calms down his brain so he can function. even if he's not the best fighter, he's the best druid.

[ so gus decides to prove his point by turning into ridiculously adorable dalmatian and scampering across the floor to nudge his nose against lan's leg. anyone else he would have turned into a wolf or something bigger, but he doesn't want werewolf mcgee over here to shed on his couch. ]

[ gus doggie is like ARF which probably means something like "bitch, i'm beyonce, get it right" but it's not like lan would understand that in the common tongue anyway. :D

also his tail wags. v impressive, it's true. ]

[ he's too cute a puppy to turn back immediately, so he just turns tail and pads toward the guest room on his lil' paws. this way!
