[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

Oh. [ that's much less ominous in that case and she nods, tension draining further. ] Then I guess that's it.

When did you receive this call?

The day before everyone left for Andres. [ she looks up sheepishly. she could have bought this up ages ago, the day they met in fact, but she did not. ]

Perhaps it is too late then, if you have not received it again.

Maybe. She said "we'll send for you". She did I guess, she sent me to you, after all. Maybe that was it.

[heartvoid]

Perhaps. But if she calls again, you may wish to follow her summons to the water's edge.

Okay. [ she trusts his judgement, so she feels no qualms in just accepting his advice outright. ]

There are some days where it would see easier to have earned the favor of a deity whose modus operandi was more straightforward. And yet, it is in that ambiguity that her vast capacity for trust, and appreciation for free will lies. She does not grant edicts. She allows opportunities.

You know, when you say it like that, she sounds a lot like Wynn. I don't... I don't really mind the cryptic shit, I just want her to know what she's doing. I can be perceptive, but I can also be a moron. If she's depending on me to decipher her vague instructions... well. [ she shrugs. ur gonna have a bad time. ]

If it were essential for you to have done more, she would have found a way to make it clear. Perhaps you are right - maybe all she wished to do was point you in my direction.

If that's the case, I'm gonna need to write her a heck of a thank you note.

I'm certain she'd take gratitude in the form of continuing to face down these threats she's set us against.

Well, that's an understood. I told you, I'm not going to stop until this particular evil is gone.

[ she says now, without her baby in her arms. things might change. ]

When one evil is defeated, it often rises in another form. I had hoped that by placing the Nightmare God under such a seal, that we might avoid this day. But I realize now that this was a foolish hope.

Not foolish, no hope is foolish. Evil's always going to be out there, irritatingly, but we just have to keep fighting. Which isn't fair, but... it is what it is.

I think I've earned my right to some cynicism, after all this time. So long as I manage to keep it in perspective. In the end, I know that good will triumph.

I'm told perspective is good to have. It's not like I don't have my moments of weakness.
