[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

Well if it helps you only led me to believe you were a little bit of an asshole? [Cracking another small, half-grin. They'd had a rough introduction but it had worked out alright.]

Kinda impressive, considering the situation. [He glances her way, half-smiling as well, though not... the least bit apologetic about it. it was a bad time. and failboat is a bit protective of their crew.]> Pretty sure I wasn't aiming to make any friends back then.

[If she had the slightest idea that his grumpiness has anything to do with associating her with Dean and hunting Elena, she'd probably be more of an ass about it but as it stands? Rose figures he was having a bad day and god damn well knows she's had her share of those.]

That was my motto for my first year here so, no big. [She can hold a grudge forever and a day but not over something like that. It had all been a lot of misunderstandings from where she'd stood.] If I can make nice with the chick who set me on fire my first day here? I think we're good. Plus, the whole, bonding over being shot at thing goes a long way.

Well, I do get shot at an awful lot, so there's a lot to bond over. [It's a risk you run when you run with the crew he runs with. also when you're des. being a smartass gets you shot a lot.] Besides, I know a few things about tough first impressions. Half the time people you didn't think you'd ever get along with at all end up becoming your best friends.

Or your significant other. [Seriously.] First time I met my boyfriend I refused to call him anything but Boozy McFlannel. I mean he's still a flannel wearing alcoholic but now he's my flannel wearing alcoholic.

[Des considers that for a moment and then looks up at the ceiling, wistfully smiling.] If you ask me, that makes the bonds closer when it begins like that. They see you at your worst before they earn your best. And if you can look someone's darkness straight in the eye and decide it's not as scary as they think it is even before you've had a chance to see if there's any real light, then maybe you've got something there... Something pure.

[The cheerful mask she had in place slips away, Rose rendered silent as for the very first time, with absolute ease, Des manages to find the exact words to describe how she sees her relationship with Dean, better than anything she could come up with.]

Yeah... It's... exactly like that. [Voice softened by the feelings his response stirs in her chest.

A smile, finally curves her lips again, this one more genuine than he previous grins.]

That the voice of experience? [Cause um. Nailed it Des.]

[he closes his eyes, still focused on the ceiling, still smirking languidly.] You tell me. About four years ago, I met a girl because I stuck a gun to her head and all but kidnapped her as part of a job, and then she spent the better part of a year calling my bluff, while I would've done anything to keep her safe.

[fat lot of good it did her. His expression shifts as he sits up a little straighter, twisting his ring around his finger.] And I've made my share of assumptions about people I thought were no good, but I was wrong, and I'm glad I let myself be wrong, because who the hell knows where my life would be right now if I'd never taken that chance.

[A question dances on the tip of her tongue, beckoning another to be asked after that and as she listens to Des she finds herself with a near overwhelming urge to let every one of them tumble out.

I mean first I thought you and Raf were a thing but then he was engaged to that other chick and then not and you? Well you were making out with my almost mom so I've given up trying to work out what's what around here. [WS: Crit Fail. Wis: 3. That's my Rose.]

he holds up the hand with his wedding band.] Husband. And yeah it was. And Helen and I... I guess I should say 'us' is... complicated. And not something I'm comfortable discussing with someone who thinks of her as a mom. And I have never had a crush on Rafael. Why do people keep thinking that?

Complicated like she tripped and fell on your mouth and you didn't hate it or complicated like, in another life kind of deal? [Once she opened that door to blunt it just kind of, keeps coming out.] I don't think she was entirely comfortable with having discussed it. At least not once she sobered up, if that helps?

[Her head cants to one side, eyes narrowing just a little.]

You mean multiple people think you have a crush on Raf and you're asking me why? You were kind of.... [Diplomacy: 25 lol whut Rose?!] Passionate? About the whole, him going on tour and not staying in touch thing.

Wait. Are we talking about the wedding or the Christmas party? [HAHAHA THERE'S A LOT OF LEVELS TO WHERE THIS GETS COMPLICATED.]

You two hooked up a-gain?! [Rose had left by then to surprise Dean with the house they'd rented.] Wow... you, so weren't kidding about the complicated thing, huh.

Alright... it's just... sometimes passionate can look a lot like... a big fat crush? [Quickly reminding him.] Multiple people, remember? Not just me.

We didn't hook up at the wedding! [at this point, he's just forgetting the rafael thing altogether.] We didn't hook up at Christmas either, actually. She just... has a standing invitation into my marriage. In... vague terms.

[She gets up from a couch for want of doing anything other than sitting there and allowing that mental image to roll around in her head.]

Is this like, a sex thing or are there feelings here? [Because it's Helen and Rose will be damned if Helen is going to get hurt by anyone on her watch.]

WAIT! No. Don't - [Shaking her head.] Don't answer that. I don't wanna know... I mean I do want to know but I really, really don't.

[des looks SO OFFENDED for a second.]

Of course there are feelings involved. She's my friend. What kind of monster would jerk around a classy dame like that?

On the plus side, not looking to hurt Helen, on the... not so plus side?]

Oh - stop! I don't - Mental image okay! [Of you and her almost mom and some imaginary other man cause she has no idea what Zarad looks like.]

I just - it's Helen. And by that I mean that if she gets hurt then I'm going to hurt somebody.

She's not gonna get hurt. [defensively] She deserves to be treated like a queen and that's what she gets from us. We'd never hurt her.

[The pacing continues to cease as she eyes him for a long moment, finally softening a little as she rocks that sense motive (24).]

Well... agreed on that front at least. [She folds her arms across her chest, then drops them and shoves her hands into her pockets instead, rocking back on her heels as she processes all this.]

So how does that... work exactly? [A hand goes up mighty quick.] Not, the TMI stuff I mean like... are you, dating? Like, all three of you?

[She at least sounds more perplexed than judgmental.]

[He watches her pace, bewildered.] No... I'm married. Helen is our friend. Is there a part about this that's hard to get a grip on?

The friend who you make out with and who has an open invitation to join you two. I mean you said there are feelings involved and that you don't want to see her get hurt and that she should be treated like a Queen, and hey I'm on board with that part but...

[She looks at him expectantly like, c'mon Des, you gotta see what she's trying to say here.

Probably not. Welcome to dealing with somebody who despite having seen a hell of a lot, is actually pretty sheltered.]
