[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. [ A sheepish look accompanied her little fist-pump of acceptance, and she dropped onto the couch beside Vi, her attention catching the TV. ]

Goblet of Fire? [ She grinned. ] Cool. Is this what you guys do all day? Watch Harry Potter and play with all the equipment?

Pretty much. Harry Potter's my niche. [ harry potter and food. so much food. there is also food on the coffee table; a half eaten veggie pizza and an entire baking bowl of chocolate chips. she doesn't have a problem, shh. ]

Good niche.

[ She gestured to the food, silently asking if she might invite herself to it with a nod. ]

So two years, huh? That's pretty good tenure. You like it here?

Yeah, it's home. [ she doesn't realize she's unintentionally echoed wynn, but he was telling the truth, yo. ] I mean it's hard sometimes, but it's nice that there's something to come back to after missions, you know? I'm sorta an orphan, so this is all the home I'm gonna get.

[ she glances over at skye before nodding to the movie. ] It's pretty much my Hogwarts.

[hacker]

[ That visibly struck a chord with Skye, who dropped her chin, glancing away. She pulled her legs up under her on the couch, settling in. ]

Yeah. I can see how that'd be nice. [ She sat back, picking at her nails in her lap, deep in thought. A moment later, she buried the whole conflict and looked over at Vi. ] So if this is Hogwarts, gimme some House comparisons. I mean, what are the sects like?

Only a couple actually fit into house comparisons. Dragon's Light, that's the clerics, medics, healers and shit, I would definitely call them Hufflepuff on a whole. And the Hoard -- that's all tech stuff, James Bond, researchy stuff -- they're Ravenclaws. Lis'sa is queen of the Ravenclaws.

[ she literally reminds vi of helena ravenclaw, harsh and cold and endlessly pragmatic and hot as fuck. ]

Everything else I think's pretty much a mix? Wynn's definitely got that Dumbledore thing going on, but not the leave a kid with his abusive relatives part because that's fucking shady. And I mean there's some shady people here, but -- [ she shrugs. snape, slughorn, draco, sirius, narcissa. not everyone is going to be a perfect human being, but they can still help. ]

Like who? Not in a gossip monger way, it's just that I'm new, and knowing who to avoid might help me make a good start. [ A beat. She nodded. ] I want to make a good start. [ For all the reasons that Vi has already claimed. ]

I wouldn't avoid them, per se, but definitely keep your wits about you around 'em. Christos, Hasmed... actually now that I think about it, it might just be them. They've got this scary, intimidate-y thing going on. Gold, too, but as far as I can tell, he peaced the fuck out. Archer's great, I love him, but apparently he doesn't rub everyone the right way. [ she doesn't get it, he's hilarious. he's gonna help raise her baby. he's a gem of comedy and violence. like a drunk unicorn on speed. ] I think that's it. I mean Solace is kind of linefacey all the time always, but he's the head of the Dragon's Light and he's a genuinely great dude, I think. I wouldn't avoid him or anything, just know you might never make him smile and I don't think he likes interruptions much. [ healing is srs business. ] I guess it's sort of person to person. I get along fine with Gold, but the gossip tree says he's not coming back, I get along fine with Archer, but Elena and I are like... it. That wasn't helpful at all, was it?

[hacker]

A little. [ Skye tipped her head to the side in acknowledgment that the issue was complicated. ] Now if I could just put faces to names, I might really be in business. I didn't realize Wynn was housing a freaking army. This is, like, first day f school, a hundred-fold. But I guess if Gold's really not coming back, that's one name I don't have to remember.

Unfortunately we don't have a yearbook or anything so I can't point 'em out for you. But the King of Andres? Marcus? He's a knight. Goes by Mark, loves the Lion King. [ ruins his kingly visage with her big sistering. ]

[hacker]

No way. The one who overthrew Dimitris Sarandis? [ beat. ] Wait. The news was all talking about how no one could figure out how he'd managed so much support. That wasn't ... Was that the Knighthood?

[graveflowers]

Sure was. We lost one of our Dragon's Claws, Thomas, during the fighting. [ she makes a sad sort of face, but it's not just for thomas. elena lost kyp then, too. ] A couple of other knights had to be rezzed during it, but for the most part it was light on the casualties. There's was even an election to make sure that the people wanted Mark to lead them, which was weird, you know? 'cause he's King, it's not something most people get elected for.

[hacker]

After a king like Sarandis, I can guess why they'd want to take democracy for a spin.

[ Realtalk tho. ]

Pretty much as long as I can remember, Andres has had this wicked reputation for being a dead zone, super anti-Shadowkind. It's nice to see things changing. [ She looked over at Vi. ] Sorry about Thomas.

[graveflowers]

[ she shrugs. ] We weren't close or anything. Jack, the other Claw, I've actually spoken to him and shit. He's cool. In that stiff upper lip kind of British way.

[hacker]

Do you not get the chance to talk with the Dragon's Claws a lot?

[graveflowers]

I was gone for a while and they do a lot of solo stuff so it was more like we were just never in the castle at the same time. I get the feeling Jack is a pretty private person anyway.

[hacker]

Hard to be private when you're in a group home as big as this one.

[graveflowers]

[ a small smile lifts her lips. ] You'd be surprised. If you put in effort, privacy is still a thing. My husband was super private. It just takes a little work. Not everyone lives in the castle anyway, it's just easier for a lot of people.

[hacker]

Sorry, was?

[ Que? ]

He died. [ she lifts a hand to stop any condolences that may or may not make an appearance. she's still kind of uncertain on whether or not she's supposed to acknowledge luthir because it makes people uncomfortable mostly, but he was important to her so he comes up sometimes just by accident. ] It's okay.

[hacker]

[ For a moment, a flicker of empathic grief starts in Skye's eyes. But as Vi dismisses it, Skye softens, and nods, accepting the unwelcomeness of the sentiment. ]

In a profession like this, it probably happens a lot, huh? Losing people.

[graveflowers]

It's definitely a possibility going in to this line of work. And it's the part no one ever tells you about. [ she lifts her eyebrows like i am your cautionary tale. ] We do really good stuff and we help people and people who aren't "people" but trees or bugbears or elves or who even knows. Sometimes it's really hard, but it's always worth it.

[hacker]

If anyone has room to say so, it's you. Obviously, your husband thought it was worth it, if he put his life on the line for it. And Thomas.

[ Skye nodded, accepting the logic therein. ]

It was really brave of them both. And brave for you, to still be here. To still ... do this, when you've seen firsthand what it could mean.

Thanks. [ she glances down, clearly affected by the compliment. sticking around doesn't really feel brave to her, just natural, and maybe selfish to bring her baby into this kind of world when she could bring her into a safer environment, but vi still feels touched. ] I sort of grew up in this kind of place. I want Lucia to feel like she has a family even if not by blood.

Lucia? Is that gonna be her name? [ She points to Vi's stomach. Is that rude??? Doing it anyway. ]
