[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.   Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions:  Dead of Winter, Curse of the Homo Magi, Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood  If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask!  Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

The stairs down to this chamber are too steep for you to be navigating at this stage in your pregnancy. [ there's gratitude beneath the chastisement, however. ] It is hardly worth the risk.

I think I get to decide that, actually. [ and since she is here, intruding on his solitude once more, she has clearly decided it's worth it. ] Besides, this might be the last time I visit on my own. Next time there might be a very small person with me. I'm still just Vi right now, pretty soon I'm just gonna be "Lucia's Mom".

I find it very difficult to believe such a title will alter who you are, at the core.

No, maybe not, not to me at least. I dunno. Sometimes it's like no one sees me, except Luthir, and Wynn. Maybe you and Myri. [ finnick. ] I was always just my mom's kid and then Kat's tag-along squire, some replacement aasimar, second string cleric. [ lazarus is clearly worth a lot to her, but it doesn't exactly seem like she's worth anything to herself. ] Now it's just going to harder to see past a baby.

[ she sighs, looking down at her hands for a moment before she looks up again with a mechanical smile. ] Sorry, that got lame.

What is it that you wish they would see, that you feel they do not?

I don't know. Which makes it stupid to want other people to see it when I don't even know what "it" is.

As someone who no one has seen in a very long time, perhaps I am the wrong person to speak to about this.

Or the best. How do you want to be seen?

As someone who gave everything he had for the right cause.

[ for a long moment, vi is silent, eyes drifting to the softly glowing orb, clearly lost in thought. eventually, she speaks, voice quiet. ]

A champion.

I suppose that could be a word for it.

I want that, I just don't... [ she rubs her forehead. ] Mankoi amin?

[ it's not as if she hasn't asked before, to him specifically since he is the one who named her a champion. she still can't seem to fathom the idea. she doesn't seem to need to hear any answer though, as she barrels on with another question. ]

Zarath, where do elves go when they die?

As with humankind, it depends greatly on what they believed, and what they have earned. No doubt your husband, in giving his life to the cause he did, earned his place in Arvandor, where all the realms of the elven deities lie. An infinite wilderness, pristine and perfect, with palaces of coral gold, mountains of snow white, trees of emerald green.

What about Jade? [ automatically, her hand lifts to tangle around the necklace that holds luthir's wedding ring. ]

Sehanine's home, the Gates of the Moon, sits at the edge of Arvandor. I've little doubt that her mother would have brought her to be with her once more.

You wouldn't happen to get there... by boat, would you?

[ he looks at her strangely ] There are some who have claimed to have been taken to meet with the Lady, in boats of silver, that manifested at her whims.

A boat that sails through the fog, like the veil?

Appropriate, considering that the Veil is rumored to be Sehanine's doing in the first place.

[ she nods, silent and thoughtful, but something about her seems to relax, like these were the answers she wanted. ]

Something I saw in a dream. [ her eyes flicker up, steady and weighted. significant, considering the subject of their discussion. ]

I'm not sure, she didn't really give me the chance. [ she tugs at the necklace. ] It was Jade.
