[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule.   He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.    

Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon.  Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.  

The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands.  ]

[This is...not going well. Myri watches Des and Spike both fail to cause any damage and she realizes that she might have something to help. Maybe it will actually work this time.... unlike the time she tried to use it on the beholder. Using Flame Strike, she calls a column of fire on the golem that Spike is not in melee with because she doesn't want to set him on fire. (Damage 35, reflex DC 20 for half damage.)]

[ spike's fists clang uselessly against the metallic monstrosity, and as the area is flooded with heat from myri's extravagant column of flame, she'd see it turn the bronze colored one a superheated red... that seems to sizzle oddly over its surface, certainly dealing no damage to it. mark charges forward to strike at the silver one with excalibur - but even the mighty sword of legend doesn't leave so much as a cut on it. ] What the hell are these things? [ the words prompt another coughing fit from him, the poison still lingering in the air around them. ]

No idea. [finnick recovers from his coughing fit long enough to take a shot at the golem — atk 23. ping :( ]

[rationalizes]

[ the superheated golem starts to move before their eyes, stepping forward silently, and bringing down two of its massive fists - one at des (atk 41, dmg 27 ) and another at myri (atk 43, dmg 29), the concussive force of the blow feeling like it could about knock them out. don't forget to make massive dmg checks during this fight: if they take more dmg than 2x their Con score from a single blow, they must make a DC 15 fort save, including any negatives suffered from Con dmg taken by the poison gas.

and the scariest thing of them all...

gar crit failed her knowledge check. the only possible way she can not know everything. ] I-- I don't know!

[Myri falls to the ground, broken and bleeding and...not moving. Sure failed that fort save and then failed it again on the action point attempt. Fate is against her here.

[ Her eyes widen, staring up at the beasts. When the magic doesn't work, she whips her head to the side instinctively to call over her shoulder. ] Kat, do you— [ ahahahah

ha

ha.

kat definitely does not have anything for this. kat is not here. and she looks back just in time to see myri fall. ]

NO!

[ her grip on her axe tightens. looking up at the golem that felled myri, she snarls, ] You really, really shouldn't have done that.

[ and charges toward it, taking a swing (atk 39, dmg 27). ]

MYRI! [ mark's shout is dulled by the sound of buffy's axe clanging into the side of the bronze golem, hard. she does manage to leave a tiny dent in its side, but the blow vibrates her to the core, as the hard metal absorbs the majority of her attack. now is probably also a good time to note that these things are immune to both crits and penetration dmg.

silver moves forward beside his buddy, and proceeds to attack her - given that she's the first one to even do anything to it. (atk 47 - critical blow. 40 dmg.) and then a crit fail!! its second fist sails over buffy's head and into the side of his friend (29 dmg), leaving a massive dent in it. ]

MYRI!! [finnick yells in unison with mark i guess, and immediately loses all composure. or will to fight. like they were doing that gr9 anyway???? the only thing that matters to him is myri. so he runs over to her, and ... gets a nat 20 treat injury to stabilize her. cries about it :( ]

Well, do bullets kill them?

[Fortitude save... fail. Con drops to 11, HP drops 16! Yikes... Keeping the double tap train rolling on the one that dropped Myri. Fuck that guy, he kind of likes Myri.]

[ATK: 24, Damage 14, and Heroic surge to do it all again, ANOTHER 24, but only 8 damage.]

[Also, Archer will use his 'In harm's way' ability, to jump in front of the next attack that gets thrown near him. He can shield any adjacent ally from a blow, and if it misses Archer's AC of 23, it misses them both.]

Don't anyone fucking die - I don't feel like carrying any bodies around today.

[ sorry archer, no dice. Just like gar, his shots are seemingly ineffective. Also, those who failed their last fort save vs poison have to make another one or take two more con damage. ]

This isn't working!

[des makes a panicked face and looks around frantically.] We just need to get to the door.

[he fires off a shot at the silver golem (atk 22- ping) and then another at the bronze (atk 35, dmg 11). And then heroic surge so he can run to the side hoping to lure them away from the door.] Hey, you oversized teakettles, I think I saw your mom in the half-price bin at Target.

You're MORTAL now, you stupid git! [Spike slams his fists into the closest one too, only barely pausing to look at Myri. He can't do anything for her. All he can do is kill her enemies and hope someone thought to bring a healing potion. (Atk 21 AP says 32 dmg 12, atk 26, dmg 12).]

[Myri stirs, awoken by true love's kiss Finnick's romantic first aid. She reaches for his hand, but finds herself too weak to stand.]

Golems. [She says, realizing just what they're dealing with because arcane lore check 20 total says so.] Iron golems. They're magical creations that follow orders. [Seems pretty obvious that it's orders are probably just "kill anyone who comes through this way."] I think my spell might have made them stronger. I'm so sorry.

[That's a lot of free action talking but if she can, she's gonna use Cure Moderate Wounds on herself and get back 22 HP.]

[ des' shot actually cuts a dent in bronze's side... but doesn't seem to do any actual damage. the same can be said for spike's fists. it hurts to smack those things, and they're completely resilient to his attacks.

mark hesitates, looking between des and spike. it's the sight of myri on the ground, the golem ready to take another swing at her that causes him to charge up at the bronze golem on the other side of her and strike it with excalibur again, hoping to keep its interest off her. with a whole 14, he doesn't put a lot of strength behind his swing tho. ]

Think about it. Dimitris knows us- he knows how we operate. He knows we'll never stop beating up anything he throws at us. We can't solve this by punching it. [He laughs, a little breathlessly.] We need to do the last thing he expects us to do- use our heads. If Buffy, Spike, and I can hold their attention, the rest of you can get to the door. Unless someone has a smarter idea than that.

bronze goes to smash myri and finnick, and archer jumps in the way as one fist comes down towards the cleric (atk ... crit fail????), confusing the golem so much, that he turns his head in one direction to look at des, another to look at archer flying in his path, tries to change the direction of his swing --

and basically causes himself to fall over like an unbalanced garbage can. timberrrrrrrrrr. his body falls prone with a tremenous CLANG between mark and myri and he loses his next attack. ]

[ Succeeding her massive damage fort save (27), and her poison gas fort save (25), Buffy is in pretty good shape for someone who just took forty damage jesus christ. ]

I think you mean if Buffy and Spike can hold their attention. You worry about getting everybody to that door. I'll—

[ She moves out of the way of bronze while he's toppling focusing on luring the other one. Moving closer to it instead, she abandons the overheated golem she'd hit before and takes a swing at the other one. ]

Hey! Big and ugly!

[ buffy's axe clangs uselessly off the golem, which fixes its attention down on her, as planned. but that also involves... two more slams from its fists coming her way (atk 44, dmg 40 and atk 35, dmg 28). it seems unconcerned by the other golem's fall - not even cutting it a second glance. ] Buffy...

[Amazing Fort of 7. Con drops to 9, HP drops another 8.]

I have the worst hangover all of a sudden... Alright, but I have an idea.

[He begins heading towards the doors cautiously, doing a full withdraw to avoid AoO's - but taking time to shout at the robots;]

Hey! What ever happened to the first law of robotics? "A robot may not injure a human being"

[ gar clearly looks displeased at the idea of not rushing to help her friends, but she actually listens to des' plan too and starts creeping around the outskirts of the cavern, after archer.

the poison finally clears in the air, at least?? until it... does it again. or the other one does it. BUT FOR NOW. ]

[Yeah, no. After watching Buffy get her ass pummeled, he heads her way, taking her by the shoulder and all but yanking her out of the way (str 18)... which she can easily oppose, but he's hoping she won't.]

Abso-fucking-lutely not. Change of plan- you go with them. They need you. And you need to get out of here before you get massacred. Remember what I said on the plane, Buffy? This isn't Sunnydale. And you still have a lot more to accomplish before you die. You're gonna see this fight through to the end, and you are not gonna fail, Buffy Summers. If you never listen to anything else I say ever again- if you never believe anything else I say, then listen to that. Believe that. [He squeezes her shoulders.] I'll be fine.

[He gives her a shove and steps backwards, fully expecting to take the next hit from the silver golem.]

Now move everyone. [Except Spike. Spike can continue punching things until everyone else is through. Sorry Spike but you have like a million HP and damage reduction. You're gonna be okay for a hot minute.]

[Yeah, Spike's actually pretty okay with this plan. Punching them didn't seem all that helpful, so he'll try another method this time.]

GO!

[And he's gonna.... try and grapple the robot that's still standing. Yep. This is happening. Don't worry, he won't try and bite it, at least, he's not that dumb. (atk 33, dmg 15, grapple check 24 ACTION POINT 33, dmg 15 if that works, no attack of opportunities provoked thanks to improved grapple.)]

[rationalizes]

[ spike's melee attack actually connects, but again, without doing any damage to the golem. however, he is thwarted by the fact that it's really difficult to grapple a) large creatures b) creatures with high bab and c) creatures with high strength scores.

when something is all three, well...

opposed grapple check of 48, which means the thing easily wrests out of his grip like it's nothing. ]

[BASICALLY IM USELESS RIGHT NOW??? All Myri can do to hopefully be able to heal people later is make a full retreat. Sorry, bros. So here she goes. Running away to the other side with the doors.]
