[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule.   He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.    

Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon.  Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.  

The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands.  ]

[Spike's fangs come out as he shrugs his shoulders, loosening his arms (listen 37).] Guess we'll just have to beat it extra hard.

We're stuck in a tunnel. How big could it -- [ and they round the corner to where the ceiling abruptly gets a little bit higher and find themselves facing the beast that inhabits the chamber beyond.

it's probably about forty feet long, and resembles a dragon so much that those who don't make a good arcane lore check will probably think that's exactly what it is. bright blue, it hosts six pairs of powerful looking clawed legs, and two prominent horns on its head. its back is ridged with decorative looking spines in the center.

it turns its head as they enter, and one thing is very clear:

it sees them.

[ the creature lunges forward, surprisingly agile, thanks to its twelve legs, and bites at spike (atk 29, dmg 17). it has improved grab, which means it can start a grapple without provoking an AoO. its grapple roll is a ... 42. :) hi spike. have a hug. with its... teeth. another 15 damage if it successfully grapples spike in its mouth. ]

[Spike's 22 is not enough to escape getting eaten. He looks PRETTY HORRIFIED all things considered as the awful monster beast bites the fuck out of him. Biting is his thing. Don't be rude monster.

Anyway, Spike might be eaten, but he's NOT tasty. He shouts out in pain and punches the monster. In the face. CAUSE THE FACE IS EVERYWHERE ON HIM. (atk 19, dmg 12, atk 23, dmg 18 penetration).]

Hey! Little late for a midnight snack, don't you think?

[ Raising her axe, Buffy runs for the beast and drives the axe down into its nearest leg (atk 30, dmg 15). Using heroic surge, she takes another few slashes once she's in melee with the beast (atk 25 20 16, dmg 17 18 20 respectively). ]

[ gar pulls up her gun and tries to flatten herself against the wall of the narrow tunnel entrance as she shoots and sees her shot pwing off its side (atk 17) ] Watch out for its breath weapon!

[finnick does not want to melee with this pos, so he's joining gar to the side, drawing out his gun this time and firing a shot. ranged atk 24; 4 dmg if it hits. so much dmg. w o w.]

Spike! [ mark goes on the opposite side of the tunnel and fires (atk 26, atk 7; total dmg 6) ]

[Ooooh, I rolled a 17, I said with glee.]

[Archer keeps with his bread & butter: Double Tap from his shotgun. So, 24 attack, with 14 damage.]

Can we kill it after it eats Spike?

[Des doesn't move, because apparently he has a clear shot and wants to take it, regardless of the dangers he's in, because being afraid to die and having your adrenaline pumping are two separate things. And you know what, it's working for him, because he fires off two crazy awesome attacks. (atk nat 20, dmg 28; atk 20 total, 27 dmg if it hits and I hope it does, because he rolled penetration damage on that one. Also he does have precise shot. :) )]

Eh, Spike'll just punch his way out of its gizzard and then he'll smell like dragon gore for the whole trip. Not a fan of that possibility.

[Myri has a few offensive spells prepared for today, but one of them involves utilizing light... as in sunlight. And she doesn't want to accidentally kill Spike in the process of trying to save him. So instead, she'll just cast Bless to help nudge everyone to making their attacks. Everyone should be within the range to get the bonuses, I believe.]

[ the creature groans against the barrage of hits, but doesn't fall. instead it opens it maw enough to swallow spike down into its stomach with a terrible gulping sound (grapple 42 vs 31). Cleave allows it to then bite at Buffy, but its jaws snap just short of her (atk 22). meanwhile, spike takes damage from the constricting of the thing's digestive system as he slides down (15 dmg) and from the acid in its stomach (8 dmg). he finds himself trapped inside the beast, in a claustrophobic, smelly, dark, and wet sack - still conscious, as it swallowed him entirely whole. the noxious atmosphere is disorienting, and he'd feel other things splashing against him - the corpses of cave critters, perhaps, who also met the same fate. ]

[WOW THIS IS REALLY GROSS. Damage reduction and having a billion hit points mean he's doing actually pretty good for... being swallowed... but he is REALLY GROSSED OUT. He brings his hands together and slams them forward for a sledge strike (atk 21 action point says 28, dmg 18).]

Okay, now you're just being obscene. Didn't your mother ever teach you to—[ Can the dragon choke on him? Maybe the dragon will choke on him. She lets out a shout, jumping back out of the way of his gnashing teeth, and follows up with a series of snappy swings of her axe (attack 25, 35 = 18+25 dmg). ] Chew. Your. Food?! [ On her third swing, she cuts a clean swath straight across its eyes in a horizontal slash (atk nat 20 (32 total), 108 penetration+crit damage). ]

[ with a mighty heave, buffy cuts the thing's head off, and it goes rolling across the cave floor, stopping in front of the gun-wielders back in the tunnel. gar is staring in absolute horror, but she manages to get a hold of herself to say: ] We have to cut him out of its stomach! He may still be alright!

Now might be a good time to try out that sword. [excalibur. HE MEANS EXCALIBUR. PERFORM DRAGON SURGERY WITH IT.]

[ OH RIGHT THE SWORD. mark holsters his gun and looks down at the sword on his other hip, hesitating for only a second before he unsheathes it with a satisfying noise, rushing past the head towards the thing's stomach. he watches it for a moment and then takes the blade with both hands and hews across the creature (atk 25, dmg 22). stomach acid and pieces of creatures flood out... along with spike, who lands face first in the puddle of grossness.

You know, I'm really thinking about a career change.

[ She wipes pseudo-dragon goo off herself because there's no way she ... decapitated it and didn't get covered in some kind of guts. Looking over at Mark, she sympathizes as he undoubtedly gets a little splattered too. ]

How's politics? Think Andres is gonna need like a Secretary of Food?

[ Lowering her axe to her side, she heads over and reaches out to offer Spike a hand up. ]

[des sucks in a long breath, sidestepping the severed head.]

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, all three Wise Men, and a handful of shepherds.

[he rubs his face.] Blondie, you'd give nightmares to nightmares. And I mean that as a compliment.

Are you alright? [Myri says to Spike (obviously). She can't actually heal him, which is unfortunate. Someone should probably coach her on prepping inflict wounds spells so that she can helpful to her vampire teammates.]

...I had it right where I wanted it. [Spike lets Buffy pull him up, not even attempting to look convincing about that. He grimaces and shakes his arm, trying to shake the dragon digestive juices off himself.]

Anyone have a towel? Or a cigarette that's not partially digested?

[And then he just looks over at the severed head and Buffy's axe and holy crap.]

Bloody hell.

[ mark just stands over spike with excalibur, making sure he's alright, before adding a wry: ] You're welcome.

Ever notice how saying you mean something as a compliment doesn't exactly make it that much more complimentary?

[ Just saying. She fixes Des with a slightly sour, purse-lipped look, then glances back at Spike, releasing his hand. ]

Mark did the rescue. [ She feels obligated to point it out only because Spike and Mark, of all people. ] I just provided the snacks. Dragon tartare. [ With a vague gesture at the corpse, she adjusts her grip on the axe. ] Now can we get a move on before it sprouts three more or something?
